Privacy Policy

remeki is operated from India and this policy is intended to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the IT (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011. If you're accessing remeki from outside India, your data may still be processed here as described below.

1. What we collect

Account details you give us at signup: name, email, phone number, and optionally city and state. Content you create: listings, photos, chat messages, and reviews. Usage data: recently viewed listings (stored in your browser, not on our servers) and basic request logs.

2. How we use it

To create and secure your account, and let you log in
To show your name/phone to a buyer you're chatting with, or to Premium members viewing your listing (phone numbers are hidden from everyone else)
To connect buyers and sellers through listings, chat, and reviews
To process Premium membership payments
To review reports and moderate listings for fraud/spam
To send password-reset and account-related emails

3. What we share

We don't sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with:

Razorpay — processes Premium membership payments; remeki never sees or stores your card/UPI details
Resend — delivers password-reset and account emails on our behalf
Other users — your name is visible on your listings and reviews; your phone number is visible only to buyers you've messaged and to active Premium members
Our hosting providers (database and server hosting, which may be located outside India) — solely to run the service

We may also disclose information if required by law or a valid legal process.

4. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except records we're required to retain for tax, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes (e.g. payment records), which are kept only as long as legally required.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you logged in (an auth token) and to remember listings you've recently viewed. We don't use third-party advertising trackers.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), traffic is served over HTTPS, and login/signup endpoints are rate-limited against abuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data, in line with the IT (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011.

7. Your rights & choices

You can update your profile details any time from your account page. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To do so, reach out via our contact page — we'll action reasonable requests within 30 days, except for records we're required to keep (see "Data retention" above).

8. Grievance officer

For any complaints or concerns about how your personal data is handled, contact us via our contact page, marking your message "Grievance — Privacy." We aim to acknowledge grievances within a reasonable time and resolve them promptly.

9. Children

remeki is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from minors.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
